Welcome to Bitra Guesthouse my name is Kolla, and together with my family I am delighted to welcome you to Bitra Guesthouse, our family-run guesthouse in the beautiful countryside of South Iceland. I used to work as a photographer and picture framer, but today I dedicate my time to running the guesthouse and creating a warm and welcoming experience for our guests. Hospitality has become my passion, and I love meeting people from all over the world and sharing this special place with them. Bitra is truly a family effort. My three daughters — Eyja, Ingunn, and Bella — all help out with the guesthouse and are an important part of what makes this place so special. Like me, they share a great love for horses and the outdoor life that surrounds us here. My husband, Gauti, is a pilot, but his roots are firmly planted in this area where he grew up. Whenever he is home, you’ll often find him driving the tractor, working on projects around the property, or lending a hand wherever it is needed to keep the guesthouse and grounds looking their best. Animals are an important part of life at Bitra. Our horses graze peacefully just outside the guesthouse, and guests often enjoy watching them from the garden or their room windows. We also have chickens wandering around the property and, of course, the sweetest dog in the world, Millý, who is always happy to greet new visitors. For us, Bitra Guesthouse is more than just a place to stay. It is our home, and we want our guests to feel that they are experiencing genuine Icelandic hospitality, surrounded by nature, animals, and the peaceful countryside that we are fortunate enough to call home.
